ARTIST NOTE
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if
I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came ... had to teach, and not, when I came to die,
discover that I had not lived.
These words come from the book -Walden- written by the noted Transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau. His thoughts originate from the idea that being possessed by the past and future, while being ignorant of the present, is an unrecommended way of living a fulfilled life. Filling your thoughts with past humiliation of defeat or imaginations of future victory is an easy way to forget about what is happening at the present. He believes the way to happiness and a fulfilling life is to focus soundly on the present, rid yourself from endless and futile self-analysis, and be content with what you have today.
